Imagine if your partner asked you for a cost-benefit analysis of your relationship. This is the story of a very nerdy attempt to keep love alive — with the help of a little ingenuity and a lot of data. I like that Rashid goes beyond the question “should I stay or should I go“ and works out a wider equation including age, location, temperament, etc. Refreshingly, the state of being single is factored in as potentially your best option.

What if Tinder actually wanted you to find a true match forever vs wanting you to have bad dates so you get back on their platform? Interesting episode about an engineer’s quest to quantify his love life with his girlfriend who wanted to break up with him. He created a model that helps you decide whether to stay in a relationship or not based on your utility of a relationship. It feels a bit dystopian.

I listened to this because it was recommended as one of AdWeek's best branded podcasts of 2019. This was such an interesting episode! A NASA engineer builds an algorithm to predict the likelihood of you meeting a romantic partner based on personal data, personality traits, and more. A scientific and practical approach to love.
