Ask Me Anything: We're hosts of the CBC's Chosen Family pod where we talk to artists and creators (usually queer, but not always). In this episode with Kai Cheng Thom, we chat about cancel culture and chosen families. Ask us anything 'til Feb 25.

trannawintourFeb 19th, 2020

Hi! I'm Tranna Wintour. I'm a pop-culture-obsessed, fashion-hungry, transgender comedian, singer, producer, and writer living in Montreal. In 2017, I created the podcast Chosen Family with my best friend Thomas Leblanc @thomasleblanc, a gay comedian, broadcaster, writer, and Celine Dion superfan. Last year we joined the CBC. On our show, we interview established artists and up-and-coming creators about pop culture, all facets of identity, and how to make great art. One of our guests is the incomparable writer Kai Cheng Thom @kaicheng, the author of 'I Hope We Choose Love: A Trans Girl's Notes from the End of the World' and 'Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars'. Kai Cheng is also a former clinical social worker and therapist. We talked to her about the real consequences of cancel culture, unhealthy coping mechanisms that survivors use, forgiveness, compassion, and of course chosen families. The three of us are hosting an AMA (ask me anything) about the podcast and the episode "Love At The End of the World with Kai Cheng Thom." We're also thrilled to co-host this with four organizations across Canada including: Love Intersections (Vancouver) with @jensungshine, Out On Screens (Vancouver) with @gavinsomers, Alan Wong (Montreal) with @wongzhongat, and Tea Base (Toronto) with @florenceyee. They'll be joining the conversation as you ask your questions. Have a listen to the episode with Kai Cheng, then ask us anything or leave your thoughts by tagging our handles here until Tues, Feb 25 5pm EST. We're looking forward to your questions and comments!
