As someone who speaks a tonal language as my first language, I'm not sure if I entirely agree with the perfect pitch argument because I struggled with music harmony.

@mm That’s cool! I first learned Mandarin at home but I’ve seen people who have perfect pitch without having a tonal language as a background 😅 It sounds like it’s only a hypothesis so far but an interesting one 🧐

@mo-to I guess if the definition of perfect pitch is to be able to differentiate tones, then one can argue being able to comprehend Mandarin means you have perfect pitch. @mm Right?! It was confusing because does being able to distinguish different tones = perfect pitch? Or not necessarily? And also, I agree - I dunno why they were so surprised that the tones don’t change over a given period of time 😂💀
