Space travel is not always high-tech. When the Apollo astronauts landed on the Moon in 1969, seamstresses made their spacesuits at a company famous for stitching latex into Playtex bras. During the Sp...Show More
A fascinating look into how women helped put the “Man on the moon”! The seamstresses and their work kept the space shuttle cool and the astronauts alive. There is a lot of hand sewing that happens even today!
PS: How much do you think the spacesuit fabric cost back in the 60’s? Clue: It wasn’t 10$...Show More
A heartwarming story about the space "Sew Sisters", the women who sewed the spacesuits for the moon landing and thermal blankets for the spaceplane. And this episode was hosted by a female NASA astronaut, Nicole Stott, too! 🧵👩🏽🚀

@epekilis There needs to be more stories and a whole series on the people behind the big events and things we honour and celebrate!
