This entire series is indispensable imo, but the last episode is especially insightful in its exploration of resistance to the prison industrial complex in the context of hip hop.

I’ve been loving This American Life since before podcasts were a thing! The adapted Runners World essay on the murder of Ahmaud Arbery was a particularly gut-wrenching contribution to the episode’s theme of stories about twenty-five-year-olds in honor of the radio show’s 25th birthday.

I thought this episode was:

😢 Moving

Fascinating to hear about a fire that devastated the Financial District in NYC, and the great lengths VOLUNTEER firefighters went to to save it. Also surprise heroic appearance by Alexander Hamilton’s son!
